Central Valley Flood Protection Board Considering Public’s Feedback on Draft Flood Protection Plan

The Central Valley Flood Protection Board met on January 27, 2012 to receive a presentation by the California Department of Water Resources regarding the draft Central Valley Flood Protection Plan (“CVFPP”).

The Board will be rapidly reviewing and revising the draft CVFPP to meet the July 1, 2012 adoption deadline. It will meet next on February 24, 2012, at which meeting it will consider the public’s recommendations regarding issues the Board should focus its review of the draft CVFPP on prior to making revisions and adopting the Plan in final form. This meeting will be followed by a March 23, 2012 to consider a yet to be released Draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Report (“DPEIR”), public outreach hearings and workshops in April and May (dates TBA), a May 25, 2012 meeting at which the Board is to adopt proposed plan changes to be posted on the Board’s website, and a June 22, 2012 meeting when the Board expects to adopt the Plan in final form.

Review staff has requested that written comments be submitted either before or during the April public hearings, but no later than April 27th at 5pm, using a downloadable Excel spreadsheet, emailed as an attachment to cvfppcom@water.ca.gov.
